Narrative
WASHINGTON, DC – A 28-year-old man has been arrested and charged after allegedly ramming his vehicle into a barricade outside the U.S. Capitol on Thursday morning.
The United States Capitol Police reported that Kevin Simon, driving at a high speed on I-395, collided with two vehicles before a head-on crash with a barricade at D Street and South Capitol Street.
Facing charges of reckless driving, resisting arrest, and leaving the scene after colliding twice, Simon suffered minor injuries and was hospitalized for evaluation due to reported delirious and combative behavior.
The incident, which occurred just outside of the Rayburn and Longworth House office buildings, prompted a significant law enforcement response, with an ongoing investigation into the matter.
