WASHINGTON, DC – A 16-year-old died, and another teen sustained injuries Thursday night in a hit-and-run crash on the south side of Washington D.C.
The accident happened around 10:30 p.m. on South Capitol Street just south of Halley Place Southeast. This is just east of I-295 and southwest of Frank W. Ballou High School.
Police say that a black vehicle struck a stolen Fly Wing 150cc scooter carrying two teens along South Capitol Street. The force of the crash threw both teens from the scooter, and one of them died at the scene.
Medics transported a 17-year-old, also on the scooter, to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
