WASHINGTON, D.C. – One person died, and another went to the hospital after a fiery two-car collision along the interstate in northeast D.C.
The incident happened sometime Friday morning just west of Fort Mahan Park along I-295, or the Anacostia Freeway, near Benning Road.
It’s not yet clear what caused the two vehicles to crash. Police say that one car caught fire and that one person became entrapped in their vehicle and required extrication.
Authorities pronounced an adult deceased at the scene of the accident. They’ve not yet released the name of the victim.
Medics transported a second person to the hospital with undisclosed injuries.
