ARLINGTON CO., VA – A crash suspect in Virginia stole an ambulance that had arrived at the scene and caused a series of collisions during a subsequent police chase on Saturday, August 12th.
Virginia State Police were dispatched to a multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 395 in Arlington County at approximately 3:40 p.m. A male driver involved in the initial accident took control of an Arlington County Fire Department ambulance present at the scene and used it to escape.
Law enforcement from both state and local levels pursued the stolen ambulance as it traveled north on I-395 into Washington DC., striking approximately 10 vehicles in the process.
The suspect was apprehended following the final collision.
The total number of those injured in the collisions caused by the suspect is not mentioned in the report. However, none of the injuries were believed to be life-threatening.
